On Monday's RAW, CM Punk announced that he plans to leave WWE when his contract expires on July 17th, the day of Money in the Bank. Punk wrote the following on Twitter regarding his upcoming departure:
"I knew I was gone at the beginning of the year. I just woke up one day and I knew. That's the way I work a lot of the time."
"I think it's creepy too, but it's really helpful. I knew I'd be history by July. Come say goodbye on July 17th."
"Come say goodbye on July 17th. I promise to go out with a bang. Trust me. XxX"
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross also commented on CM Punk's big announcement:
"@cmpunk is most interesting man in wwe & he NEVER drinks beer. MITB PPV now has a viable 'hook.'. Truth's doing well too."
When Punk leaves I may very well lose interest in WWE altogether. Edge retired and I was sad but I still had Punk to look forward to and now that he's leaving I don't see myself watching much of WWE unless Jericho returns. I'm just so sick of John Cena being superman and having the same old predictable matches, title reigns, promos, etc...
If you know me then you know how huge of a Cena I was up until this past year when I finally got sick of him. It's not even his fault, it's the way WWE books him to be the next Hulk Hogan with his ultimate two minute comebacks after getting beat down for fifteen minutes.
It also seems like they don't try anything new rather than the same old recycled routines. They will push the new guys and make them look great at times but that is until they go up against the great John Cena and get force fed to him. They are starting to do it with Orton as well only not as bad. At least win Orton wins it isn't after a twenty minute beatdown that he comes back and no sells before hitting the RKO.
It's just sad because I love wrestling and I have loved watching the WWE but it looks as though Punk will be fed to John Cena at Money in the Bank, in Chicago...there will be a riot if this happens.
Forgive me for ranting but I just had to say something. I HATE with a passion how shitty WWE is doing some of the top talent in the country.

Sucks dude, I lost interest in WWE about 7 years ago, or so. I don't remember why unfortunately, but still. It was a similar reason to yours.

I've always been an on/ off wrestling fan. I started watching regularly again after a couple of years or so of watching sporadically, when the Rock returned. It got my interest high, and I kept watching for the mid card (mostly DB, Bourne, Cara, etc) and now I'm bored with it again. It's the same thing, week in, week out, for almost everyone on the roster. I stayed up to watch Capitol Punishment sunday night, and completely regretted it, it was one of the most predictable PPVs I've seen.
So yeah, I agree.

I havent really watched wrestling full-on since 08-09. I wish they'd shake things up, turn Cena heel, make the shows a bit more cutting edge, focus more on wrestling and not silly Hornswaggle bits, etc.

I stopped watching wrestling a while back when it got to the point where the new people were so uninteresting. I hate the likes of nexus and alberto del rio no real appeal to me. My favorite years of wwe were 2002-2005 I know people loved attitude era which i loved too but i loved the early wwe then it started getting boring around 2006.

Ever since Edge's retirement, I have lost overall interest in the product, and without CM Punk, pretty much all of my favourites from my return to watching wrestling in early 2009 will be gone.
- Undertaker (semi-retired, only needs to make WrestleMania appearances) - Edge (retired) - Chris Jericho (on extended leave) - Shawn Michaels (retired) - Jeff Hardy (gone to TNA, pretty much a shell of what I used to like him for as a wrestler) - Triple H (more of a sentimental favourite, but still, he is semi-retired) - CM Punk (leaving)
Any real urge to stick with the product, in my eyes, is now gone. :\

On the plus side, with all those people gone, WWE can't survive with JUST Cena and Orton, and they will eventually need to change things around and push new stars. By push I don't mean a few main events, like Sheamus, I mean make legitimate stars out of. I see WWE getting REALLY good again by 2013.

They don't want to push new guys though, that's the thing. They have so much untapped talent on the roster that it's ridiculous. Danielson, Bourne, Ryder, Ziggler, Rhodes, DiBiase, Kingston, McIntyre, Hawkins, and Barreta are very very good but yet they don't really get much side from a few mid card title reigns(Danielson, Ziggler, & Kingston) or a meaningless tag title reign(Rhodes, DiBiase, & McIntyre). They don't want to take chances anymore...instead they play it safe and shove guys like Cena down our throats till we are sick of it.
Then you have the talent they push only to feed them to Super Cena or Orton...Del Rio, Christian, Sheamus, Miz, Punk, Truth, and Barrett could have been or have been great WWE or World Heavyweight Champions but yet when they go against Orton or Cena they are made out to look weak and not so superior.
I mean what kind of bs is this that Miz can beat down Cena for 20+ minutes only for Cena to come back with his 1 minute series of moves followed by the submission or pin fall victory? I was so pissed when they happened at Over The Limit...I just turned the tv off and walked away.
Then at Capitol Punishment...R-Truth dominates Cena mostly only for a fan to throw water in his face and Cena to nail an FU for the win. So now water is an automatic match ender? It's because of the bullshit like this that I stream the ppv's for free because I don't want to pay my hard earned money to be literally slapped in the face with a big pile of cow shit.
When Edge retired I thought to myself..."Who do they have left that I really care about? Well, there's CM Punk..." and now that he's leaving I have no one to really care about except for The Miz who went from WWE Champion to feuding with a lower mid carder. The Miz busted his ass for so long just to have to take a backseat to another pointless Cena title reign.

Kingston, Hawkins, Bourne, McIntyre and Barretta are not really untapped. They could be used better, but they are not and never will be big stars. Just because they are liked on the internet, or can do some high-flying moves doesn't mean they should be stars. If WWE decided to push Ryder, Bourne, Morrison and others to be the main people of Raw and Smackdown, ratings would plummet.
Also, Miz "busted his ass for so long". He's been trying hard to improve for about 4 years, and hes already held tag titles, mid-card titles and the World Championship. How is that not being used properly? They keep giving Cena the title because he is the companies ONE star. There are many Kurt Angle or Chris Jericho stars, where they are big in wrestling, but theres only so many Rocks, Austins or Hogans, that are big even to non-wrestling fans. Nobody except Cena has that.
Do you expect Miz to win everything? It doesn't work that way. If that happened, he'd face backlash like Cena. You're complaining that he is fueding with a mid-carder, as if its something new. Every wrestler does things like that. Hogan and Edge fueded with Billy and Chuck, for god's sake. Shawn Michaels and Chris Masters. The list goes on.
Barrett couldve been World Champion? No. I would HATE for him to win the title.

If Barrett had been booked correctly along with the whole Nexus angle I think Barrett could have been one of the best heel champions in a long time. Instead they feed the whole entire Nexus to Cena and make everyone one of them look weak. Sure they were nothing but a bunch of nobodies but WWE had the chance to make at least Barrett look like a viable threat in the main event after leaving the Nexus. Honestly the Nexus angle could have been brilliantly booked but it was so rushed.
Barrett could have defeated Cena with help from Nexus to win the WWE Title. He could have then went on to defend the title against all challengers, finding a new cheap way to keep the title in every defense. The fans would hate it, and it would get Barrett over huge as this dominant heel. Have him keep the title for close to a year while Cena tries to take him down. The final match between the two having the stipulation of if Barrett wins, Cena has to leave the WWE or if Cena wins, Barrett has to leave the Nexus. Of course Cena wins and Barrett leaves the Nexus however he looks strong in doing so, and could still be a viable threat for Cena even without the group backing him.
That's just the way I thought it could have worked out and made for much more compelling television. Although I did like the whole Cena has to join Nexus part, the rest was just bad booking and writing decisions.

I'm not saying The Miz has to win all the time, I just hate the way they book everyone to lose to Cena in the same exact ways only with maybe one or two things switched around. It's insulting.

At least Cena busts his ass to deserve it, though. I get more frustrated with Undertaker showing up for 2 months per year and destroying everyone before leaving again.

Yeah and don't get me wrong I'm in no way dogging Cena and not saying he hasn't busted his ass. I love the guys attitude and hard work. I just hate the way they go about booking him. I think the fans wouldn't boo him so much if they just booked him in a way that wasn't insulting to the fans intelligence. I don't mean to get you all riled up lol

I wasn't riled up, I was just saying that by putting all the youth that the internet love in the forefront, WWE would lose LOTS of ratings and money. They do need to work to make the youth stand out more, but people like Baretta, Ryder, etc. should be nowhere near the title for another 5 years. I'm saying that as a huge Ryder fan.

I don't know. I'm a huge fan of Punk, and I honestly think he's the best all around performer WWE has right now. It would really be a huge loss for WWE if he leaves. Honestly though, as much as it would be disappointing, I just don't see myself quitting WWE in the near future. I've just always been a huge fan.
