Well yesterday was the Foos gig. We went down to Milton Keynes Saturday to check out the big shopping centre there. (It's fucking huge. It had streets and traffic lights going through the complex.) Anyways, we crashed at a hotel and the doors were set to open at 2pm on Sunday. We got there about 1pm, parked and were luckily let right in, as the gates had been opened early. We got into the inner pit, and got some great space. It was at the Milton Keynes national bowl. The place is massive. Heres some pics.
My friends stayed in the pit whilst I went to the toilet. This is the view down from the top of the bowl.
We got bored in the pit, so someone started throwing beach balls about. There was a divide in the middle for the bands to run down, so we started playing volleyball across the break with the other side of the pit. When our volleyballs were taken away, what else could we do but use someones condoms?..
And when the stewards take away your condoms? Use a blow up doll thats painted to look like Dave..
Bob Mould then came out around 4 to do some DJ'ing.
First support act came about 4.30. The Hot Rats. A pretty sick cover band with the lead singer from Supergrass if any of you know them? They did songs from Bowie, Costello and other old bands/artists.
They finished about 5, then Bob Mould came out again. Did another half hour on the DJ'ing and then Jimmy Eat World came out around 6. They were really sick. Everyone loved the Middle and they did other awesome songs, like Bleed American and Futures.
J.E.W left the stage around 6.15. Que Bob Mould out again. He was getting really into, busting out dance moves you haven't seen since your Dad got drunk at that wedding you try and forget. Anyways. 6.45. And Biffy Clyro are out. Now I've always been a slight fan, but over the last couple of months I've been listening to them a lot more. I was excited, and expecting quite a show. I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. It has sky rocketed them into one of my favourite bands, because their set was phenomenal. The pit was crazy for them. I'd have taken more photos of them, however the shoving was scaring my iPhone.
This was my favourite photo of the night, for some reason. This was the moment during the Captain when about 3 seconds later, I was punched in the head. When I turned round to see who it was, he apolagised, said it was an accident. We hugged. Sang the rest of the Captain. Part of That Golden Rule and then I lost him in a mosh pit.. I still miss him.
Biff left around 7.45. Que more epic you've been framed dance moment from Bob, and then Foos were ready. 8.15. They opened with Bridge Burning. It was fucking insane! You couldn't hear Dave over everyone screaming 'THESE ARE MY FAMOUS LAST WORDS!'. Pics are a bit blurry. I'd been pushed further back. (Not complaning. Still had brilliant view.) and I was getting pushed a lot.
The pit. Somewhere in there is me. I can't spot where, but I know i'm there somewhere..
Yes. He is in a boat. There were signs saying no crowd surfing everywhere. A couple people even got kicked out for it. This guy rocks up in his boat that looked more sturdy than the Titanic, and the stewards looked PISSED. That was until Dave noticed this guy. Que Grohl himself getting on the mic and shouting 'This one goes out to the crazy motherfucker in the boat!' and proceding to play White Limo, whilst pointing to this guy a lot. He fell out once, and me and my friend who I was with caught him and pushed him back up. Then he dissapeared. Whether he sank or not I'm not sure, but hopefully he had a life jacket.
The start of four. Any time Dave would get a beer for a quick drink, the crowd instantly started chanting 'CHUG, CHUG, CHUG.' He did. Four times.
This looks like his sinking. He's not. He capsized. Hung on for dear life, and managed to stay in as people flipped him over. This kid had some spiderman shit going on.
Number four..
This is right about the time my phone died. Anyways, they later brought out special guests which were Seasick Steve and John Paul Jones from Led Zep and TCV!
Best of You was probably the highlight of my night. When the lyrics pause in the middle of the song, and the Ohhh's commence, they stopped playing. We sang the ohh's for around about two minutes straight. He just had his head in his hands, and looked emotional. He joked around before finishing the song. They closed with Everlong and a shit load of fireworks.
This was the setlist.
1. Bridge Burning
2. Rope
3. The Pretender
4. My Hero
5. Learn to Fly
6. White Limo
7. Arlandria
8. Breakout
