I must admit during huge Fallout storylines I sometimes get too into it and forget to save, then get raped by a deathclaw or something and sent back 3 hours. That's something similar to me only with New Vegas. I either run into a hoard of creatures, raiders, or something badass and I die.

Derp.
Didn't realise, all I saw was GTA in that match up and my vote was made. But, my vote is changed, Halo is one of the most influential games ever made.

Yeah Halo and GTA were the two games that had been voted for the most, btw.

Yeah, SA was great, but Halo was the most influential game of this generation.

Yeah, SA was great, but Halo was the most influential game of this generation. I disagree, Kanye. Halo was good but not better than San Andreas. On one hand it's hard to compare as they are two completely different genres. And they lead the field in each of those genres. There are indeed more games out there that are similar to Halo by way of being a first person shooter, but I don't think Halo was the biggest inspiration behind them as FPS's have been around for a lot longer. GTA was an industry defining game which conquered multiple platforms, whereas Halo was restricted to Xbox. These are just my opinions as someone who has played both games and was never that impressed with any Halo game. Nor most FPS's for that matter. If it's not Point Blank then I'm not really interested.

I put them in a random selection generator and chose randomly, rather than base it off of playoff seeds because there were two or three games that were tied at two votes a piece.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't think Halo was anything special. I played through the first one and after beating it, I really didn't feel like playing the second. I eventually played a little of the second and got bored because it felt like I was playing the first one again. All of the enemies were the same as well as the guns and what not. Nothing against anyone that enjoys the games but I think GTA was way better of a game in every way possible.

Halo inspired hundreds of massive games, and really brought FPS into the forefront of gaming. Just because FPS's have been around longer, doesn't mean Halo wasn't an inspiration. Fantasy has been around for hundreds of years, but you can't deny Lord of the Rings becoming popular didn't influence it more than anything beforehand. SA was industry defining? It was a great game, yes, but I don't really think it had anywhere near the impact Halo did on gaming. Ask two random people on the streets who Master Chief and Carl Johnson are, who will the average person likely know more?

I think Halo & San Andreas were equally as influential. Halo showed that a game could have a brilliant campaign/story while still including an incredibly immersive multiplayer mode, and San Andreas showed that a game with a huge, huge open world was possible, and that nearly everything can still be customizable from the characters to the cars.
Both are influential.

Also important to note that the GTA series pushed the boundaries of what you could do and show in a video game in terms of mature content, and that influence transcends genres and hugely affected the industry. Though this was already established by the time SA came around, I would list GTA3 or Vice City as most influential But this is besides the point as the tournament isn't solely about influence
