A few months back, I wrote some song lyrics, that looking back on, I disliked. Fastforward to now, and I've gone other them again, and come up with something I seem to be quite happy with.
I Look Back
By Christopher Brown
Sitting there all alone,
Waiting by the phone,
This just feels so wrong.
Its all fucked up this time,
The love handed out has died,
The wait is so cold and, long.
The distorted echoes of Cobain,
Heard sourly over again,
The time flies by on the wall,
Wondering whether or not to call.
His apathy is bigger than you could believe,
As you were always trying to claim and see.
Lucky scars are left behind,
The embers of stars are yet to shine.
And I look back, I see all the trouble that I left.
And I look back, I remember the things I couldn’t forget.
Now I hear you, I see all the problems dropped on me,
Now you breathe through, it’s only now that I see.
You get your wish,
The end of this,
He disappears, from all your tears,
A distant memory from the past.
Your ignorance can’t be forgotten no more,
Nevermind the pain I’ve gone through before.
The day I forget, is the day I remain,
A figment of the love that you once used to gain.
A twisted dark confused head,
Your pride left to lie on a cold, damp bed,
You refuse to believe you made my pain,
As your arrogance embraces you in a shower of rain.
The hardest thing is letting go.
Your love, your pain, the life you know.
It will all come back, and you’ll have forgot,
Your darkest memories you left to rot.
And I look back, I see all the trouble that I left.
And I look back, I remember the things I couldn’t forget.
Now I hear you, I see all the problems dropped on me,
Now you breathe through, it’s only now that I see.
For days on end, Sitting still to pretend,
That the pain has gone away.
For moments that will not pass, A broken shard of glass,
Seems like a rope that wont fray.
I hope one day,
You will feel the same bitter way.
The truth you had, the times you were glad,
That you saw that look on his face.
Looking back, this is best for me.
I left you in disgrace, and certainty,
That I was right, because of your pain,
I’ll thank you for that over and over again.
This is the time, that I become the one.
The one that I need and the one that I’ve won,
I feel like a weight has been lifted,
For tomorrow can only be gifted,
With a better light, and a prettier face,
And the fact that your apology will come to late.
And I look back, I see all the trouble that I left.
And I look back, I remember the things I couldn’t forget.
Now I hear you, I see all the problems dropped on me,
Now you breathe through, it’s only now that I see.
And I look back, I see all the trouble that I left. And I look back, I remember the things I couldn’t forget.
Now I hear you, I see all the problems dropped on me,
Now you breathe through, it’s only now that I see.
