This post isn't intended to offend anyone on here who have have strong religious beliefs but here lately I've found myself questioning religion a lot more than I ever have. Now I've never been a go to church kind of guy, but I've always let others believe what they want and never said anything about it because I'm a guy who thinks everyone is entitled to like whatever they want. However, here lately I've been noticing a lot of people who are religious, and do go to church every Sunday having personal problems in their life and they have a status about it and all I read from the replies to them are
"You just gotta have faith and believe in god and everything will be ok."
And I sit there and think, what bullshit line that is. These are people who I know attend church services a lot and their faith in God is very, very strong but yet they still are in a bad spot in life and have been for quite a while, and these people tell them to just have faith, which they already have and it's not doing anything for them.
I was brought up into a family that attended Church regularly, but as I got older it got to where every one went less and less. I was forced to go as a kid, and I never got saved or whatever, I just didn't ever see the point of getting up early in the morning and going to sit in a place and listen to someone read me stories out of a book.
I don't know, I just felt like posting about it and see what some of you guys think. I just feel like a lot of people attend church because of that fear that you're going to go to hell when you die because you don't go to church. I know a lot of people who are great, great human beings and have done a lot for me and people I know and they never go to church, so I guess they are going to hell? Seems like a load of crap since a lot of people who I know that go to church are total hypocrites and think they are better than you because they are in the church every Sunday.

I respect the beliefs of religious people but I fucking hate when they do the door-to-door converting stuff. Do I go to their door and preach athiesm? There's so many contradictions in popular religious beliefs and most organizations pick and choose when to follow them and when to ignore them for their own gain. Church is man's creation and man's interpretation, it holds no more weight if there was a god than if I were to read the bible and decide we should all wear hats made out of spaghetti while reciting John 3:16 every sunday. Religion is man-made and has evolved through periods while still maintaining the flaws of mankind, much like politics.

I've always found George Carlin's views on religion to be amazing. Hell, I've found his views on everything to be amazing.

In my opinion, religion was an easy way to explain everything due to the lack of science during the times; thus a way to control the masses. Besides, how am I meant to follow a religion that says the fact my homosexual and bisexual friends are unnatural, but a talking snake is perfectly okay? Plus, how are you meant to decide the right religion? They all say that eachother are wrong and if you follow anything else, you're going to Hell. Lucky me though, I already am as I am a bastard child. Sheesh, if people want to believe it they can go for their life, but I like logic, and not having faith in a giant bearded man that lives in the sky and a red man with horns underground whose stories and existence simply lives through word of mouth and scripture, contrary to popular belief, does not make me immoral.

Religion is such a touch issue. Someone of intelligence who either does or doesn't believe in it won't pick a fight about it but if you say something about it to the wrong person they'll go ape shit. I remember I used to have a friend who was really religious and one time I said "I mean I believe, I was raised to, but sometimes I question what kind of logic there is in some almighty deity," and he stormed out and barely talked to me for like a month.
It's something to believe in. In a world like ours there are much worse things to believe in. Some people believe in judgement or jihad, some people believe in money and power, or even science or that the planets are going to end within the hour. You've got dreams that don't come true, and you've got the ones that do. Some folks though, believe in nothing...but if you believe in nothing, then what's to stop the nothing from coming to you?

Science searches for evident to prove new theories and realisations using ever-improving technology. Religion searches for evidence to constantly live ignorantly in the past.

Me and a friend were talking about religion for what reason i dont know, anyway i got pretty pissed off at him because he was telling a story about how he told some christian chick that believing in religion is only for the weakest of people who have nothing better to do with there lives, yes he is entitled to that opinion but he throws it around like its not going to hurt anyones feelings, now im not religious at all tbh but i wont go around telling people that religion is wrong and i wont go around telling people who or what to believe in.
If anyone actually understands what i just wrote then you deserve a medal

Religion isn't bad, it's the people who translate it in horrible ways that are bad.
