Professional wrestling has been a major part of pop culture for decades, from the days of WWWF and the NWA to Hulkamania, to the Monday Night Wars and into the Attitude Era and into the new millennium. This tournament looks at all the names from the past several decades and takes forty of the best to conclude the greatest of all time from pro wrestling in North America.Note: These forty wrestlers were concluded from many "GOAT" lists all over the Internet, however some names unfortunately missed out (e.g. Jerry Lawler, Sabu, Samoa Joe, Ken Shamrock, Owen Hart, Ultimo Dragon, Mil Mascaras, Chris Benoit, Road Warriors, Demolition etc.) This bracket only focuses on singles performers in North America. challonge.com/microstopgoatRound ThreeSting vs. Shawn Michaels Edge vs. The Undertaker Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan CM Punk vs. Kevin Nash John Cena vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin Eddie Guerrero vs. Rob Van Dam The Great Muta vs. Rowdy Roddy Piper Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Bret Hart Vote away, guys.

Nice. I almost did one of these yesterday and posted it haha
Randy Savage Sting CM Punk The Great Muta Scott Hall Triple H Hulk Hogan Edge
Some hard choices, especially between Punk/Flair and Lesnar/Hunter but ultimately went with Punk since I wasn't alive for the Ric Flair era. When I started watching he wasn't the same Ric Flair he was in the 80's and I think Punk is just as good as Flair ever was, maybe even better on the mic and in the ring. Triple H got my vote because he's more well rounded than Brock where as Brock is a great wrestler but not a great talker, where as Triple H is both, imo.

Ahaha, I've been thinking about doing one since the Greatest Video Game one was put up. I just only found the effort to do it today.
Anywho.
Randy Savage vs. Booker T: A tougher match than one might think. Of course, Macho Man was Macho Man. The charisma, the flamboyancy, the athleticism all wrapped up into epic attires and two words... OOOHHHH YEEEAAHHHHH!!. Booker T however was one of the forefathers in African-American success in mainstream wrestling. Sure, Ron Simmons was the first African-American to win a world title (or something like that), but Booker T took it to a whole new level. He broke away from the tag scene, and was the final WCW World Champion before the buyout of WCW. However, I've still gotta go with the "Macho Man" Randy Savage because this man was a one man show and managed to shine past the shadow Hulkamania cast over WWF at the time. Rest in peace.
Andre the Giant vs. Sting: Sting easily. Andre may have been considered one of the best big men of all time, but over time others have come in and shown otherwise (i.e. The Undertaker, Kane etc.) whilst Sting will probably forever be known as the greatest wrestler to never step inside a WWF/E ring. To make such a mark in wrestling without ever needing the "big stage" to get there takes something special, and that's why I'm going with Sting.
CM Punk vs. Ric Flair: Another very tough decision. Flair was the man of the NWA and WWF, and one of the men in WCW and WWE. This being said, his legacy has been tarnished with TNA in my opinion, despite two Hall of Fame inductions. CM Punk is the new breed. The indy underdog who climbed his way to the top and is, behind John Cena of course, the man of the company. Having brought something new to the table to the WWE in the past year, he did something Flair never achieved... re-inventing an entire industry. With a bright future still ahead of him, I have to go with CM Punk.
The Great Muta vs. Mick Foley: Two industry legends. Mutoh, the king of Japanese wrestling, almost what the Undertaker is to wrestling in America today. Mick Foley however introduced WWF/E to something new... extreme. Foley revolutionised the way we thought about wrestling in WWF/E and ECW, bringing a whole new meaning to bloodshed. The Hell in a Cell matches with Undertaker and Triple H, as well as Street Fights and Boiler Room Brawls with these two stars are shining examples of how Foley/Mankind/Cactus Jack/Dude Love (he was the master of gimmicks too, may I add) changed the face of hardcore. I vote for Mick Foley.
Scott Hall vs. Randy Orton: Tough. Razor Ramon gave us the ladder match and brought a new level of sleaze to the notion of heel wrestlers, as well as being a major part of the nWo, one of the most influencial factions of all time. The same could be said for Randy Orton however. As a face he may seem bland but through that he pulled off an amazing 2011 in terms of matches with CM Punk, Christian, Mark Henry and Wade Barrett. But as a heel he shone. From humble beginnings in Evolution, he became the youngest World Champion and would go on to lead his own faction in The Legacy, which has produced future star Cody Rhodes (...and soon-to-be-future-endeavoured Ted DiBiase... ahem) whilst making a name for himself as the heel of the company. For this, I vote Randy Orton.
Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H: No doubt in my mind, Triple H. No matter what persona, he has either been a top face or top heel and has always produced entertaining matches, going back to his days in DX, to his feuds with Cactus Jack and Shawn Michaels up to today with his WrestleMania-double with The Undertaker. Brock Lesnar made his impact in a quick time unlike Triple H, however it did not last as he moved on to football and then MMA. Had have he stayed, who knows where he could be now, however even with his return it is not enough to beat the future mastermind of the company, who I vote for; Triple H.
Hulk Hogan vs. Bruno Sammartino: Hulkamania vs... Brunomania? Okay, sure, I hate Hogan with a passion due to his inability to put aside his ego, but there's no doubt Hogan had what Sammartino didn't... "it". Hulk Hogan easily.
Antonio Inoki vs. Edge: Inoki may have been one of the figureheads in Japanese wrestling, but from what I have seen, did not have the charisma or in-ring ability that The Rated-R Superstar does. Edge has always been entertaining no matter what, so my vote goes to Edge.

I guess I'll finish up this round with my votes.
Bret Hart Shawn Michaels (I prefer Chris Jericho all-round, especially on the mic, but Shawn Michaels has just so many amazing matches) The Undertaker Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat Rob Van Dam Daniel Bryan (mostly for his stuff as Bryan Danielson, as well as his WWE career) Kevin Nash Stone Cold Steve Austin Jeff Hardy Edge Triple H CM Punk Hulk Hogan (if only for the nWo) Eddie Guerrero Macho Man Randy Savage The Great Muta
The next round will be up shortly...

After some shock eliminations in Round Two such as Chris Jericho, Hulk Hogan, Mr. Perfect and The Rock, we reach Round Three.
The more people that vote, the better. If you don't vote, you can't complain that your favourite is gone. Simple. Round Three bracket is up on the original post, so vote away.

Sting vs. Shawn Michaels Hard one here as I'm a massive fan of both guys but I think the fact that Sting was my childhood hero, is why I'm voting for him. He was my Hulk Hogan as I grew up in the 90's and saw nearly his entire career in my life.
Edge vs. The Undertaker Another hard one, but Edge gets it here. Anyone that knows me, knows how much of a HUGE fan I am of Edge. He was one the guys I was able to watch in the beginning and follow his career up until his saddening retirement. Nothing against Undertaker, but Edge is probably my favorite of all time.
Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan Damn. These are all hard decisions. I think Triple H gets my vote though. I love D-Bry but I'm still as big of a Triple H fan as I was in 1997.
CM Punk vs. Kevin Nash CM Punk, no doubt. I was a big Nash fan as a kid but Punk is the complete package when it comes to being a professional wrestler.
John Cena vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin Very nice pairing here. John Cena is like Edge, where I've watched him since before his WWE debut and while I'm a big fan of the guy, I'm an even bigger fan of Steve Austin. Austin was just awesome in his prime and I don't think anyone will ever be able to touch his legacy.
Eddie Guerrero vs. Rob Van Dam Eddie Guerrero, without a doubt. I like RVD but Eddie was another guy who I think was the complete wrestling superstar. He could cut a promo and hang in the ring with the best of them.
The Great Muta vs. Rowdy Roddy Piper The Great Muta takes it here. I don't really follow Japanese wrestling but Muta is one guy I was always a fan of. I didn't really get to see Piper in his prime and there's no doubt he was one of the best promo guys ever, but Muta is just great, no pun intended.
Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Bret Hart Macho Man takes this. It was hard to choose but Macho Man was probably my second favorite as a kid next to Sting. I always loved watching him and I remember how devastated I was when he joined the nWo. Bret is awesome himself, but I gotta give it to Mach.

Sting vs. Shawn Michaels
Two legends. Two icons. The face of WWF vs. The face of WCW at one point. It's tough, but for the same reason I went with him over Jericho, I'm going with Michaels over Sting. Michaels has just had so many amazing matches spanning his entire career, even up to his final match which is in my Top 5 of all time, and my favourite of all time was the prequel at Mania 25.
Edge vs. The Undertaker
Two great wrestlers, two of my all time favourites. Yet, this has to go to Undertaker. As much as Edge revolutionised TLC and the Ladder Match, The Undertaker revolutionised Hell in a Cell, as well as Inferno, Casket, Buried Alive and even No Holds Barred matches. The Undertaker vs. Edge series is my favourite series of all time, even ahead of Taker/HBK/HHH simply because they had those great WrestleMania, TLC and Hell in a Cell matches. It's tough, but The Undertaker, as Arn Anderson once said, represents everything that is good and great about this industry.
Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan
Even with Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson being one of the best in the world today, and having been so for the past ten years, Triple H is Triple H. All of the burial bullshit aside, when "The Game" (or "My Time") blasts through an arena, you know that shit is about to go down. He was one of my favourites as a kid, and I still enjoy his matches today. So Triple H scores my vote.
CM Punk vs. Kevin Nash
I am still disappointed we didn't get to see Punk/Nash, I think seeing Punk go over Nash and continue the rebel path rather than deviate into ultra-face Punk would have been pretty awesome. Regardless, nothing against Nash at all, but Punk is the whole package. The whole sha-bang! He is an amazing wrestler, an amazing mic worker, and as even he said, amazing on commentary. So, Punk scores this one for me.
John Cena vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin
Cena deserves a lot more credit than what he gets. He is a solid worker and carried the WWE through some of it's toughest times. Personally, I believe people have been "shooting the messenger" in Cena, he hasn't been the problem, creative has. Regardless, as Punk is Punk, Austin is Austin. And just like Triple H, when you hear the glass shattering, shit is going down. So Austin takes this one for me.
Eddie Guerrero vs. Rob Van Dam
This is really tough. Both were great superstars, great high flyers and just amazing to watch. Both were underdog World Champions and both are personal favourites of mine. Yet, I'm giving this one to Rob Van Dam. Eddie takes it on mic skills, but RVD was just something else in the ring for me. He was probably my equal favourite alongside Undertaker after he debuted and I hope we get to see him in a WWE ring again.
The Great Muta vs. Rowdy Roddy Piper
This is tough. Piper is arguably the greatest mic worker ever, but Muta is one of the greatest, yet most overlooked in-ring workers ever. As much as uksix will hate me saying this, Muta to me is like the Japanese Undertaker. The mind-games in his entrances (check out some of his badass entrances guys), the "leader of the industry" status and the fact he is a true legend that stands out above most leads me to giving this one to Muta.
Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Bret Hart.
Bret Hart was the greatest technical wrestler ever and had the mic skills to back it up. Macho Man was (in my opinion) the most charismatic, entertaining wrestler ever. Both have had amazing matches, and amazing careers and it's extremely tough to call this one. But oooooohhhhh yeeeeahhhhhh, the Macho Man Randy Savage takes this. Just. By the skin of his teeth.
