Nitro opened with a recap of Unleashed. It showed Lance Storm blasting Sting with a guitar and a super kick to retain the WCW Championship.
In the ring, Lance Storm stood alongside Shane Douglas, Scott Steiner, and Jeff Jarrett gloating about how they all fooled the world. Jarrett said it was all part of the bigger picture and they are going to take over WCW. Lance Storm states that they are The Elite of WCW and no one can stop them.
Sting makes his way to the ring to confront The Elite, mostly Lance Storm. Sting goes on about how Storm had the opportunity to be a respected WCW Champion but he took the low road and he's nothing more than a coward. Storm starts to respond to Sting but instead blasts him in the head with the title. The four men begin beating the hell out of Sting until Booker T comes running to the ring but he falls to the numbers too. They knocked Booker out of the ring and then proceeded to bust a guitar over Sting's head before Lance Storm injured Sting by stomping his ankle while it was placed inside a chair.
After a commercial break, Sting was taken out of the ring with medical help
Rhino def. Mike Awesome in a hardcore match to retain the Hardcore Championship after a Gore through a table set up at ringside
Diamond Dallas Page was shown entering Ric Flair's office. Page said it was crap what happened to Sting and he wants a match with anyone from The Elite. Flair appreciates Page sticking up for Sting and decides that DDP will team up with Booker T to take on the team of Shane Douglas and Lance Storm in the main event.
Samoa Joe w/ Bobby Heenan def. Kid Romeo via submission with the Rear Naked Choke
Bobby Heenan proclaimed Samoa Joe will be the next big thing in WCW
The Elite are shown in the back getting ready for the main event when a member of backstage personnel entered the room and informed them that Rix Flair sent him to let them know that Scott Steiner and Jeff Jarrett are banned from ringside in the main event. They proceeded to beat up the backstage worker and threw him out of the room.
The Darksiders(Vampiro&Muta) def. Kronik in a Tag Team Championship rematch after Brian Adams walked out on Brian Clark
Mean Gene Okerlund caught Adams at the top of the ramp and tried to interview him but he didn't say a word
"Sugar" Shane Helms defeated Shannon Moore via the Vertebreaker
Helms tried to shake hands with Moore after the match and go back to being friends but Moore spit in his face and left the ring
CM Punk def. Low Ki via the Shining Wizard
Rhino got attacked backstage in the hallway by the returning Raven. Raven laid Rhino out on the concrete floor with the Raven Effect before quickly finding a referee to count the fall and Raven was awarded with the Hardcore Championship.
The announcers informed everyone that Sting has suffered a broken ankle at the hands of The Elite and it's unknown when he will return to action.
The main event ended in a no contest after Booker T and DDP brawled with Shane Douglas and Lance Storm. Jarrett and Steiner ran down to the ring and a 4 on 2 ensued. Jarrett picked up Page and held him as Storm nailed him with a Superkick. Nitro ended with The Elite standing tall in the ring as the crowd booed and threw trash in the ring.

It has been officially announced that the WCW Hardcore Championship will be discontinued. The division wasn't getting over enough to warrant the title being active. No word yet on what will happen to the talent that competed in that division. WCW Saturday Night will be making it's return. It will serve as a secondary show for talent not featured on Nitro in order to get them more exposure. On the Saturday before a pay per view, it will serve as a ppv hype show featuring all of the talent that will be on the next nights pay per view. Rumor has it that WCW is in talks to bring back a former WCW United States and World Champion. This man is said to be a huge name and will surely make quite the impact if he and WCW can strike a deal to return. Be on the look out.
