After Throwback 2 and the following re-match with Cane in which we remake our Throwback micros I will be entering a period of semi-retirement/almost done. I won't say I'll ever quit because I'm bound to make the odd one in the future but there'll be no more matches from me for quite a long time and even then, only certain members will be worthy of my time for a one off match.
I'll still be around to vote and reply to general stuff on the forum but micros are no longer a top priority. I'm pretty much past it.
This has been quite a sudden decision because I wasn't expecting things to go as they just have. I'm quite unhappy and a little pissed off about something I won't go into a public forum.

I'd also like to just point out for a bit more clarity, nothing in my personal life affected this decision. There's no bad stuff going on, nothing that I have to devote more time to there. It is all about a few things to do with micros. One of them is my own ability. It's been on my mind for a while now that I can't seem to "evolve" with a better way of shading. I'm gonna come right out and say it. I'm one of (if not the best) at linework and shaping. But shading is forever my downfall which I can't move past. The other thing should be best left unsaid here because I'm still not happy about it and I know I'll say something about a person (or people) that would be in the heat of the moment.

As much as I respect your decision, you did defeat the World Champion, so your ability is unquestionably high standard.

I get you, man. Hope everything turns out well, though and if it's what will make you more comfortable, or happy, then I support you fully.

not being able to shade never stopped me Well, yes it did, but lets not go there.. Your shadings not bad at all Gav. Sure, I don't love it at times, but tutorials made by other veterans could still help you. I feel I've helped KOK a fair bit since we started teaming, and he is a veteran. I'm sure we could help you out too. It's all good to take a break, but I'd like to see you compete again eventually, or maybe just appear like Alex does nowadays, making micros he really wants to make, when he feels like making them.

I do sometimes look at how others have done things for inspiration. The pants on my FFXIII Snow Villiers are directly due to your Sabu. I've been very active these last few months by my usual standards. I used to do one micro every couple of months, now it's at about 2 per month. I don't actually feel burnt out or sick of making them as I still have tonnes of unfinished ideas floating about in my head. As I pointed out to CMC last night, it's just demoralising to spend so many hours on something I believe 100% should win something, and then it doesn't. As I've said, it's not the end of competition for me because there's still two things I must do before I can say I've done it all. I think I just need to take my time with learning some things again without the pressure of a stip or deadline. It's just a massive slowdown, is all it's going to be.
