And Apple has done nothing about it....
Yet.
My story:
I always read stories about how poor Apple's security was for their Apple ID's. For those that don't know, the Apple ID is used for buying things on iTunes and in the App Store.
I've never logged in with my Apple ID anywhere.
So I get an e-mail on my account saying that I owed an outstanding balance...
I was like, what the [image] ? How is that possible? So I checked my account and it claimed I owed a ton of money. Not a small amount like a dollar or something, but a lot of money.
Needless to say, I was confused. I rarely, if ever, buy anything on the App Store or in iTunes. My music is all on discs for the most part, and I only download free apps on my iPhone.
I changed my password, e-mail, and deauthorized the five computers that were authorized on that account (I only have a Macbook Pro that uses iTunes, one computer. I'm not sure if the iPhone counted as authorized...I doubt it.) I'm about to change my PayPal password as well.
The question is, what do I do about the outstanding balance? Does anyone have any idea? Thank god my credit card was not on file for the account, but my PayPal account was. The PayPal account wasn't linked to any Bank Account, it's a student PayPal account. Should I call Apple in the morning and say, "hey, I didn't buy any of this poop, I believe my account was hacked. I deauthorized all of the computers that were authorized and changed all of my passwords."
I truly don't feel safe using their service anymore either. I don't know if I should necessarily blame them or not, but I've never logged in anywhere, nor given my password to anyone.
