Okay, this is what has been taking me away from you guys...
Crew/Rowing
I'm varsity this year, so it's ALOT more involved.
The following pictures are from our yearly clean up at the marina.
In December and January, we had a lot of snow, two snowstorms and another heavy snow.
So we were delayed getting on the water and as you'll probably see there was still alot of snow.
Okay, here are some pics...
This is an Eight, a the typical shell (boat) that is used in Crew. Eight people lift the shell, which is VERY heavy (being one of the tallest members on the team makes you have to carry more as well -.-), and a coxswain leads the boat to the water, or in this case, into the slings so that the boat can be rigged. I'm the one in with the green backpack.
Here we are bringing the boat down the hill, again I'm wearing the backpack
This is us bringing the boat up the hill, we're waiting at waists (resting the boat at waist height) to bring it back into the boat house. This boat has been fully rigged. Can you guess which one I am?
You get a nice view of my butt in this one, I'm rigging the boat with one of the coaches, he's wearing a "Supersuit" which has flotation built into it and is REALLY warm.
This gives you an idea of how long the shell is.
I'm walking away in the green backpack with my bestfriend right next to me. This boat has been fully rigged.
Now we're starting the climb to the boat house, generally the taller people are grouped on one side with the shorter on the other, which wasn't the case here. So while I'm carrying at shoulders everyone else has their arms extended putting alot of weight on my shoulders, once again, Boat=HEAVY!!
One of the captains, the girl in the purple zip up, is next to me, she's a tiny bit too short, which you can probably see.
The hill is the hardest part to walk up, it tall, has a very steep slope, and with a boat, it's alot harder.
Okay, so that's what's taken me away from you and hopefully you've learned some stuff too!!
I'll answer any questions as well!
