It’s Goin’ Down…
RAW opened with WWE Champion Batista making his way to the ring and proclaiming that he did what everyone thought he couldn’t, beat John Cena at WrestleMania. It doesn’t take long for Batista to be interrupted by John Cena who says he admits Batista was the better man at WrestleMania but Cena would like one more shot . Batista declines and says Cena had his shot and he lost, so too bad. This brings out Vince McMahon who says he agrees with Batista and it’s time for someone else to get a WWE Championship match, and that man will be decided in a series of matches but he isn’t going to announce the participants, he will let the new general manager of RAW do that, McMahon then introduces Shawn Michaels. Michaels says even though he lost at WrestleMania, he isn’t retiring from the wrestling business all together, just in ring activity. He then goes onto announce the participants of the previously mentioned tournament and the matches that will take place.
Mark Henry vs. The Miz
Big Show vs. Kofi Kingston
Ted DiBiase vs. Sheamus
Vladimir Kozlov vs. William Regal
Shawn says those four matches will take place tonight with the winners facing off next week to determine the final match and the winner of that will face Batista at Extreme Rules for the WWE Championship in the first ever Special Referee Extreme Rules Match where John Cena will referee the championship match. This news infuriates Batista saying that Cena will just screw him over to which Cena smiles. Shawn says if Batista loses due to Cena, Cena will be suspended indefinitely without pay .
Opening Match
Tournament Match
Vladimir Kozlov vs. William Regal
The match began abruptly as Kozlov attacked Regal before the bell but Regal was able to get back into things. Regal went for his running knee but Kozlov quickly caught him with Iron Curtain for the win.
Winner: Vladimir Kozlov
Shawn Michaels was shown in his new office about to sit down when Triple H comes in and wants to know why Shawn didn’t give him a spot in the contender tournament. Shawn says the tournament is for the guys who don’t get WWE Title shots often to which Triple H says “ok” in a sarcastic tone and walks out, bumping into John Cena on the way. Cena says he heard what Shawn told Triple H about giving shots to guys who don’t get them often and that’s fine but why not make the match a Triple Threat at Extreme Rules instead of making Cena the special referee? Shawn says Cena has had title match after title match and the fans are sick of seeing the same guys in the main event which is why Shawn is trying to change things up. Cena says the fans don’t know what they want most of them time, one minute they boo a guy, the next they cheer him…Cena walked out shaking his head…
Tournament Match
The Miz vs. Mark Henry
Mark Henry used his power to control the match until Miz cheaply poked him in the eyes and then went to work on the bad knees of Henry. Henry fought back and even caught Miz with the World’s Strongest Slam but Big Show came down to break up the pin by distracting Henry which allowed Miz to pull brass knuckles out of his tights and blast Henry in the back of the head while the referee was dealing with Show.
Winner: The Miz
Christian and MVP were both interviewed backstage on being the first co-holders of the Money in the Bank briefcase. Christian said he should be the sole owner of the case, while MVP disagreed and said he should be. Both men argued over who would be using the case and then a shoving contest ensued until Shawn Michaels broke it up. The general manager said he had a brilliant idea to decide a sole owner of the case and it’s called “Best of Seven” and it starts next week.
Tournament Match
Big Show vs. Kofi Kingston
Kingston used his speed to outwit Big Show but it soon failed when Show caught him with a big boot. Show then took control of the match with huge power moves that looked to destroy Kingston however Kingston held on. Show went for the knockout punch but Kingston quickly fired back with the Trouble in Paradise before show hit the punch. This brought out Miz who was stopped at the bottom of the ramp by an angry Mark Henry who laid Miz out. Big Show then came out of the ring and started brawling with Henry and eventually got counted out.
Winner: Kofi Kingston
Show and Henry fought around the ringside area as Kingston left. Miz attacked Henry from behind which allowed Show to Chokeslam Henry through the announce table. Big Show then shoved Miz down and left ringside.
Randy Orton was interviewed backstage about losing at WrestleMania and getting pinned by DiBiase. Orton says he isn’t making any excuses, he was beat fairly in the middle of the ring by one of raw’s brightest starts. Orton then says he has an announcement and that announcement is that he is going to smack down because earlier in the day he was traded but he didn’t say who is coming to raw.
A recap of the opening segment is shown followed up by match graphics for next weeks raw featuring the semi-finals of the tournament,

Sheamus went for the running boot but DiBiase evaded it and quickly got control of the match by locking Sheamus in the million dollar dream but Sheamus fought out of the hold. Sheamus nailed the running boot and looked to be on the way to victory but DiBiase kicked out. Sheamus lifted DiBiase to his feet in anger and DiBiase quickly fired back on Sheamus but was stopped with a low blow out of the referees view. Sheamus taunted and wasted time before going for the Celctic Cross but DiBiase slid out of the move and quickly nailed Dream Street for the win.
Winner: Ted DiBiase

Main Event
Triple H vs. Randy Orton
The match went back and forth with both men never getting a clear advantage over the other. Both men tried for the finishers but were unsuccessful in the attempt. Triple H tired to lock on a figure four but Orton fought out of it. Orton nailed his signature back breaker and attempted the RKO but Triple H shoved him off. Triple H nailed the Pedigree and went for the win and at the two count the lights went out and some commotion went on in the ring and when they came back on Orton was still down and now Triple H was down. This brought out Shawn Michaels who demanded to know what happened but nobody saw anything in the dark. The show ended with both men still down and Shawn saying he will find out who did this by next week.
